Calling All Rock Lovers – The Rocks + Minerals Journal is Here!

I don’t know about you, but if there’s one thing on our nature shelves that crowds out everything else – it’s rocks. Years of visiting rock shops in small mountain towns, collecting small pebbles from the stream, and receiving various rock kits in the mail has resulted in quite the collection. And so of course my kids were thrilled when I told them we’d be studying rocks and minerals this term.

Since I’ve had many requests from others for a nature study focused on this topic, I went to work. The newest
Rocks + Minerals Journal explores six units of study, including:

  • Sedimentary Rocks
  • Metamorphic Rocks
  • Igneous Rocks
  • Minerals
  • Geodes and Agates
  • and The Rock Cycle

The journal contains more than 60 pages of hand-illustrated field guide posters, coloring pages, diagrams, activities, experiments, journaling pages, flash cards, a booklist and more.

It’s designed for grades K-8th, with more parental supervision and participation required for lower elementary grades.

I’ll be sharing the activities, experiments and books we’ll be using this term here on the blog; if you’re interested, feel free to subscribe and follow along with us!
