We had so much fun outside with our local @wildandfree.co group today, borrowing this winter tree nature weaving activity from #exploringnaturewithchildren . Nature weaving is a fun handicraft even for the littlest of hands, and all you need are sticks and some yarn 🙌 We came home equally tired and muddy ~ the perfect ending to the week, I’d say. . Gasp ~ a selfie! (For the record, I am terrible at selfies and kind of loathe them but I’m feeling inspired by @weliveonabus and @sweetwaterhomeschool to be brave so here I am 🤣💁‍♀️) . I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want the rest of the school year to look like, and have narrowed it down to four areas I want to prioritize ~ time outdoors, reading, narration and connection . Zoom zoom zoom, we’re going to the moon 🌕🌗🌘 . Heading to the moon this week with #exploringnaturewithchildren 🚀 We made moon sand and used small rocks to explore why the surface of the moon is covered in craters. The boys tossed the rocks into the sand and we talked about how the moon has no atmosphere to protect it from objects in space, and how there is no wind or water to alter the landscape. It was a fun way to get messy and bring the facts to life . EASY MOON SAND RECIPE 8 cups flour 1 cup baby oil (or another oil) Mix together in a mixer for 10 min . Welcome to our dining room/craft table/art gallery 💁‍♀️ . We don’t have a homeschool room or a designated space where we do lessons or crafts. It happens in little pockets throughout our home ~ which I love, by the way. I think it’s helped us view learning as something fluid that happens all throughout the day, whether or not we are officially “doing school.” . I’ll be doing a little tour of our learning spaces and how we store supplies today in my stories, in case anyone finds it helpful! . What about you? Saying au revoir to France today with a little Anatole-style feast (Have you read Anatole? It’s seriously the cutest). The boys helped me label the cheese, totally surprising me by preferring the bleu cheese over the Brie 🤷‍♀️ (For the record, I would have given Brie the ‘specially good rating) . We’ve taken our time through France but have enjoyed every minute!
