I’m SO excited to release our new Advent Nature Study: Heaven and Nature Sing! During a time when the holidays can seem frantic and packed full of activities and commitments, it’s important to slow down and remember why we celebrate in the first place.
The rhythm of the seasons not only marks the passing of time, but it provides us with hope – reminding us that with every change, there comes a newness. Short, dark days grow lighter; stillness and dormancy give way to growth; and with death sprouts new life. Nature itself shows us the beauty of anticipation, rest, hope, perseverance, and rebirth.
This 54-page advent nature study will help you and your family draw connections between plants and animals, and the meaning of Christmas.
There are four weeks of study centered around the four themes of advent: Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. You and your children will learn about the adaptations of animals in winter and make connections to each theme.
What’s Inside?
- Each week begins with reading the devotional together. Each devotional includes a personal reflection and memory verse for the week.
- You’ll then explore each plant or animal and how it survives and adapts to winter – like the poinsettia, caribou, cardinal, honeybee, and more. You’ll discover how their instincts lead us to the advent themes of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.
- Each week includes hands-on activities and new traditions and memories to make with your family.
- There are beautifully illustrated memory verse coloring pages to color.
- Color and cut out the ornaments for each theme, and feel free to hang them on your tree or display them on a piece of ribbon in your home.
- Use the (optional) book list for picture books that go along with the plants, animals, and themes discussed during the week, and are meant to inspire greater reflection.
I hope you and your family enjoy going through this advent study as much as I enjoyed making it!
